And I think to myself.. what a wonderful world

It has been a wonderful weekend, and this is why:
*The weather has been beautiful.
*We took Gabe and Sofia swimming yesterday.. Gabe's first time. He didn't seem to love or hate it, I think that he was just soaking it all in.
*We walked to church today (almost 2 miles each way), and it is so nice to walk as a family and spend time together. We must have confused people as they drove by with Chris in a tie and me in a skirt and sneakers walking on the walking trail.
*Yesterday we hung out at Avery park forever playing and eating American Dream Pizza, sipping Jamba Juice. Does life get any better?
*Saturday, I left the kiddos with Chris for a few hours and went to a Women's conference at the church. It was so uplifting, and I needed that rejuvenation. I went to workshops on "budgeting" and "The Power of Prayer." The prayer workshop was given by someone that I worked with at Lincoln who has been battling cancer on and off for the last 7 year. She read something from the Bible dictionary that really struck me:"As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father and we are his children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part. Many of the so called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them." Vicki's talk was so inspiring and good for me to hear. The conference was topped off with Chieko Okazaki speaking to everyone (she is 81 years old!!). What a great conference!!

How fun! I told Jeff I want us to be more of a 'go on outings' type of family. It' so hard though. Like yesterday he spent almost 3 hours putting together a new ceiling fan. I am happy it's done, it just seems like any free time is spent on our house!!! I seriously can't wait to see you and the kids tomorrow! Gabe is seriously the cutest and Sofia sounds so funny. I can't wait!

Life DOES sound wonderful!!! Spending time outdoors really adds to quality of life, I think. We got a foot of snow the other day! Mind you it's all gone now and it's beautiful out today, but I'm sure the weather still doesn't compare to yours.
I also love Sister Okazaki. She spoke once at a conference I was at YEARS ago and the things she said still resonate with me often!

Once again you have great pictures - your kids are gorgeous! Swimming looks like a blast - I feel bad since I haven't taken Sylvie swimming since last summer, she probably doesn't remember it (although she did tell me she wants to go swimming in a pool somewhat randomly)

Cute pictures! I can not believe how big your boy is getting! What a cutie and you have the most beautiful daughter, she is getting so grown up looking. I'm glad you've gotten some nice weather and it does just feel so good to get out walk and enjoy it, I wish I could see you in a skirt and running shoes!

Hey Kara! You're so good about posting pictures all the time. I need to be better about that. I love the image of you guys walking to church in your nice clothes and sneakers. That's how I used to commute to work when I lived in Washington D.C. When did Chris cut his hair? It looks great. Although I think he has great hair for long(ish) hair too. I guess I haven't seen him in a really long time.

Hey, when do you want to get together to watch Kite Runner?

Amanda,
I had so much fun with you. Sorry that I am not the most exciting to hang out with at this point in my life!!
Adrienne,
Don't feel too bad about not having good weather there.. after being in the 70's here, I woke up to hail and crapola today. Ahh.. spring.
Heather,
Be warned.. when you do take Sylvie swimming.. she may become obsessed like Sofia and ask to go every day.
K-
Same back at you. Your kids are precious, and they look a lot a like ..... I think.
Jaime,
GQ huh??? I'm not sure that Chris has been called that before. He thought that was so funny.
Robyn,
Invite me to read your blog.. pretty please.
Shahnaz,
I am up for the kite runner whenever!! Let me know a time, and I can most likely be there!
