Here is a picture of Sofia busting a move tonight. Do you notice how dirty she is? Many times (okay, maybe just a few) moms have marveled(or thought that I was crazy) at my easy going attitude when it comes to letting Sofia get really dirty. I think that it is important for kids to play and get dirty, and since most of her clothes are second hand, I usually am not too incredibly devastated if stains won't come out. Being dirty is part of childhood.. or it was part of mine at least. With this said, I usually don't let her get this bad all of the time. Are any of you neat freaks who have a hard time letting your kids get dirty? Maybe I can help you relax a little when it comes to cleanliness and you can use the energy you would have used to keep your kid clean to help me organize my house :).

This picture is HILARIOUS and totally shows Sofia's personality! I envy your "laidback" attitude. I really wish I could just 'let go', but I find myself just tensing up. Like tonight when Chance through half of his mac and cheese on the floor. I'm trying though...you definitely inspired me! How's your "stylin'" husband by the way...JUST KIDDING!
Kara I would like to call upon your services. I need help. I'm super OCD. My poor kids. I'm trying to get better...and I have a little. But I'm genetically a clean freak. I need to chill. I'll help you organize your tupperware drawer if you help me come to terms with things like cheetos and dirt.

I knew we had a lot in common :) I think it makes my life easier and less stressful if I just let it go much of the time. I mean if I'm going to go some where, where I want the kids to look nice I will make sure to keep them clean but usually I say "what the hay, their kids!" I'm glad I'm not the only mom out there.
Although one thing I try not to let my kids have and it's just a weird thing think I picked up from my mom, is a snotty crusty nose I just can't handle that. A messy face, whatever, dirt on the clothes who cares, snot all over the face no way!

Oh yes, I always feel accomplished when I get rid of my kids boogies. I also enjoy popping a good pimple too. I think that it is the mama bear in us to keep faces clean.
I love that picture! I don't worry about Sylvie getting dirty too much. I'd much rather that she explores stomping in puddles and mushing mud in her hands than worry about stains. I have to admit that this weekend she went outside in some new, light colored, too big clothes that should last a long time, and stained them thoroughly with mud. Argh. I guess there's a balance somewhere. I guess the key for me is that the mud is where it's supposed to be (outside), the food in the kitchen, and the spit in the sink (we're working on spitting out toothpaste). If all this stuff ends up on clothes - oh well.
Hehe... you probably noticed the cheeto picture on my blog. I'm pretty good about not letting the dirt and grime get to me either. Good for you! I can tell you are a fabulous mom. :)

When Sebastian first started getting dirty (gee I just realized how that sounds!!!) I was a little obsessive about it...but my wise mom told me, "he's a boy, he needs to get dirty, stop worrying about his clothes." And I let go, and haven't had a problem since, unless of course we are on our way somewhere...I also hate how he thinks his shirt is a napkin. By the way, girls should get dirty too..I mean that in the most innocent of terms.
