Technolgy: a blessing and a curse

The other night I was driving home from jogging with a friend like at 9:30 at night, and as I was turning a corner close to my house, all of a sudden I find myself slamming on my brakes and swerving as a confused/scared teenage girl looks up at me. Do you want to know what this girl was doing in the middle of the road at 9:30 at night? Text messaging!! Are you for reals girl? Was it really so important that you text message that you had to stand in the middle of the road! I also become furious when I am driving and a driver cuts me off or does something dumb when they are on their cell phone. It's not that I probably don't ever do dumb things driving on accident... it's that they are endangering my kiddos so that they can have the convenience of talking on the phone whenever they want. Okay... I am done venting now.

As a recent acquirer of a cell phone, I can attest that it is really distracting. I remember when I first got it & went somewhere with a friend. We stopped by Dutch Bros. for a coffee, and the next thing I knew we weren't at Dutch Bros. anymore, and there was a cup of some beverage in my hand, which I had ostensibly ordered whilst fiddling around with my phone. I'm sorry all you overachievers reading this, but multitasking is a myth!

Cell phones: the necessary evil. Here in California, some new laws have been put in place regarding cell phones and driving. If you are on a phone while driving, you must have a handsfree device or you'll get a ticket. The other part to the law is if you are under the age of 18, you may not use a cell phone; handsfree or not. Here is the best part though: Text messaging while driving... perfectly legal!! Make sense? Didn't think so. Thanks for the topic; I needed to vent too I guess.

Oh my gosh I totally fought reading the twilight books as well! I read the first three books in a week while I also ignored all 4 of my kids and my husband (who just finished the first one). Have you seen the movie previews yet? They look so good!
